<a href="http://news.com.com/2061-12572_3-6102646.html">Hands-on with Vox | News.blog | CNET News.com</a>: Rafe Needleman gives a preliminary first take on Vox, Six Apart's newest entry into the blogging/media sharing space set to launch later this year.
Needleman concludes that, "Vox is not revolutionary, but it shows how blog tools are evolving and how communities online are becoming even more specialized. It looks like Vox might be an attractive platform for a lot of people who aren't currently participating in online communities."
Right now Vox is in private beta and you have to have an exisiting member send you an invitation to get in. Thanks to <a href="http://automatt.vox.com/">automatt </a>for giving me an invitation in.
I haven't really played around with Vox that much yet but one thing I do like about it is that it has a tool where you can bring in your Flickr photos including the metadata (tags) associated with the photos. I don't like the fact that you have to manually pull them in 20 at a time (with my 6,000+ shots on Flickr it would take *forever* to do this) but having at least a limited amount of portability is good.
I'm not exactly sure what Vox is hoping to offer me as I already have a blog, but it feels like they are trying to create a MySpace type of place but maybe for a slightly older crowd.
We will have to see how it evolves.
